No matter what I do, the Wi-fi keeps getting disconnected or randomly stops working every 5-10 minutes. I have to disconnect and then connect again for it to work for the next 5-10 mins. I did everything that people have suggested on the community. I'm a college student and an intern, using the laptop on a daily basis. I NEED to get this fixed

@Ayka_1485, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.
I understand how frustrating it must be to deal with constant Wi-Fi disconnections, especially when you're juggling college and internship work. Let's work through this step-by-step to get your HP laptop's Wi-Fi stable again.
Run HP Network Diagnostics
HP provides a built-in tool to automatically detect and fix network issues.
- Open HP Support Assistant (search for it in the Start menu).
- Go to Troubleshooting and Fixes > HP Network Check.
- Follow the prompts to diagnose and repair issues.
If you don’t have HP Support Assistant, download it here: HP Support Assistant | HP® Support
Update Your Wireless Adapter Driver
Outdated or corrupted drivers are a common cause of disconnections.
- Press Windows + X > Device Manager
- Expand Network adapters
- Right-click your Wi-Fi adapter > Update driver > Search automatically
You can also visit HP Software and Driver Downloads to manually download the latest drivers for your model.
Change Power Management Settings
Windows may be turning off your Wi-Fi adapter to save power.
- Go to Device Manager > Network adapters
- Right-click your Wi-Fi adapter > Properties
- Under the Power Management tab, uncheck:
- “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”
Reset Network Settings
This will clear any misconfigurations.
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status
- Scroll down and click Network reset
- Restart your laptop after the reset
Check for Interference or Router Issues
- Try connecting to a different Wi-Fi network (e.g., mobile hotspot) to see if the issue persists.
- If it works fine elsewhere, your router may need a firmware update or channel change.
I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.
Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
