My wifi connection has disappeared. I have tried to do diagnostics and couldn't find an issue as the internet was connected via ethernet. The driver was in the Network drivers under hidden, but after some updates it disappeared and in Network Controller it says that it is not connected to the computer. I have downloaded all available drivers but still no joy. The original one Realtek is still not there.  In Network and Sharing settings there is no Wifi connection to enable.

Originally, it was Windows 10, but last year was updated to Win 11.

All updates are up to date.

I have Bitdefender.

@DD1111Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Wi-Fi not getting detected!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It sounds like your Wi-Fi adapter is either disabled, missing, or not being recognized due to a driver issue. Try the following steps to resolve it:

Check if the Wi-Fi Adapter is Disabled

  1. Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Network adapters and look for Realtek Wireless Adapter (or any Wi-Fi adapter).
  3. If you see it:
    • Right-click → Enable device (if it's disabled).
    • If already enabled, Right-click → Uninstall device → Restart your laptop.
    • Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.

Check for Hidden Devices

  1. In Device Manager, click View > Show hidden devices.
  2. Expand Network adapters and see if your Wi-Fi adapter appears.
    • If it's grayed out, right-click → Uninstall and restart your laptop.

Manually Install the Wi-Fi Driver

Since it was originally Realtek, download and install the driver manually:

  1. Go to HP’s support websiteHP drivers and software
  2. Enter your model: HP 250 G7 Notebook PC
  3. Find the Wi-Fi driver (Realtek) and install it.

If your model doesn’t list a Windows 11 driver, try the Windows 10 version in compatibility mode:

  • Right-click the driver filePropertiesCompatibility tab → Select Windows 10 → Apply → Run as Administrator.

Check Services

  1. Press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
  2. Scroll down and find WLAN AutoConfig.
  3. Right-click → Properties → Set Startup type to Automatic → Click Start (if it's stopped).

Check BIOS Settings

  1. Restart your laptop and enter BIOS (Esc or F10 during boot).
  2. Look for Wireless/WLAN settings and ensure it is enabled.
  3. Save changes and exit.

Reset Network Settings

  1. Open Settings (Win + I) → Network & InternetAdvanced network settings.
  2. Click Network reset → Restart your laptop.

If none of these work, let me know what happened in each step so we can troubleshoot further. 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!
