I'm currently having major issues with my laptop's Wi-Fi. The network either doesn’t show up at all, or when it does, it's extremely difficult to connect to and very unstable.

Other devices (phones, tablets, etc.) are connecting to the same Wi-Fi network without any problems, so the issue seems isolated to the laptop itself. The only reliable way I’m able to access the internet on my laptop right now is by using my phone’s 5G mobile data via hotspot. Apart from that, no other available Wi-Fi networks are showing up.

I've already tried several troubleshooting steps (such as restarting the laptop and router, updating drivers, and forgetting/re-adding the network), but nothing has worked so far. The problem persists, and I’m looking for a more effective or permanent solution.

Any detailed guidance or insight would be appreciated.

@Markvlaminck, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

That kind of Wi-Fi issue can be so frustrating—especially when everything else in the house is online and your laptop is the odd one out 😤. But since you’ve already covered the basics like restarts, driver updates, and re-adding the network, let's try these:

Start with Hardware Checks

Check Airplane mode: Ensure it’s turned off in Settings > Network & Internet > Airplane mode.

Verify Wireless Adapter Is Detected

Press Win + X > Device Manager > Expand Network Adapters.

You should see something like Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX201, Realtek Wireless LAN, or similar.

Right-click > Properties > Check status for any error.

Fully Reinstall the Wireless Adapter Driver

You’ve already updated the driver, but Windows can be stubborn with corrupted installs.

In Device Manager, right-click the Wi-Fi adapter and choose Uninstall device.

Check “Delete the driver software for this device” if the option appears.

Restart the laptop. Windows will attempt to reinstall a basic driver.

Also, you can download the drivers from HP Support website

Check WLAN AutoConfig Service

Press Win + R, type services.msc.

Find WLAN AutoConfig.

Make sure it’s Running and Startup Type is set to Automatic.

If it’s not running, start it and try connecting again.

I hope this helps.
