HP 250 G3
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, I have an HP 250 G3 and I am having problems with the wifi module. I often lose the connection for hours and then reacquire it without doing any kind of action.

At home with 3 other laptops I do not encounter any kind of problem.

Looking on internet I noticed that the problem seems to be with the RaLink RT3290 wifi card

I have installed the latest driver available 5.0.57.0 Rev.A and from the configuration I have not detected any anomalies.

I have also disabled the power saving but the problem persists.

Now I would like to change the wifi card directly. Do you know which one is compatible and which one you recommend to install on your pc?

Hi:

What model Intel processor does your notebook have, and how many antenna wires are connected to the Ralink wifi card in there now?

The number of antenna wires and the model of the Intel processor will help me determine what wifi card is best for you.

Below is the link to the service manual...

Hi:

Please open it up and check.

It makes a big difference on what model wifi card you can upgrade to.

One antenna wire:  You can install this single band card with Bluetooth...basically the same specs as the Ralink card, but it works better on W10.

Realtek RTL8723BE 802.11bgn 1×1 + BT 4 LE Combo Adapter   HP part # 753077-001

Two antenna wires: You can install this dual band AC wifi card with Bluetooth.  An upgrade to the wifi specification.

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0    HP Part # 710661-001

Either card is readily available on eBay.

Search by the HP part number, not the model of the wifi card.

Are both compatible with my pc?

Yes, they should be, but the Intel 7260 is only going to work if your notebook has two antenna wires connected to the Ralink wifi card.
