Hello, my laptop is HP Pavilion 15 dk2000nx and until today my laptop had no issue connecting to the WiFi in my room. My WiFi signal was always full strength in my room and my router sits a few meters away outside. I had taken my laptop to the HP service center yesterday as one of my fans had stopped working, and ever since I brought my laptop home after the fix, it has stopped connecting to my wifi unless I stand close to the router. I have tried updating drivers, resetting network, reinstalling wifi adapter, but I'm not able to fix this issue and I am feeling totally helpless and lost as I need the connection back. Can I please get some help with this issue?

@henlo, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

1. Turn Off Power Saving for Wi-Fi

Go to Device Manager > Network Adapters.

Right-click your Wi-Fi adapter and select Properties.

Under the Power Management tab, uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."

Click OK and restart your laptop.

2. Restart the Router

Unplug the router for 10 seconds, then plug it back in.

Check if the Wi-Fi signal improves.

3. Forget and Reconnect to Your Wi-Fi

Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi.

Click Manage known networks and select Forget on your network.

Restart your laptop and reconnect to the Wi-Fi.

4. Check for Wi-Fi Interference

Move electronic devices (like microwaves) away from the router.

Try connecting to a different Wi-Fi (like a hotspot) to see if the problem is with your network.

5. Perform a Network Reset

Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status.

Scroll down and click Network Reset.

If the problem started after the service, contact them again, as something may have been disconnected during the repair.

Hello, thank you for your response. I have tried the methods you suggested, but none of them worked for me. For the first fix, I do not have the power management tab under my wifi adapter properties. My problem still persists and I'm very concerned. I will be deeply thankful if I can get more guidance on this.

Thank you

Hi @henlo,

Thank you for the response:

Try these quick tests:

Connect to a mobile hotspot (right beside the laptop): If it connects fine, and then disconnects as you move away, it confirms low antenna signal.

Try booting into BIOS or Linux live USB and test Wi-Fi range—this confirms it’s not OS-specific.

Let me know how it goes.

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀

Best regards,
