Doesn't the F12 key shut it off?

HP Recommended

never used f12

While I can think I can get into bios should I change the boot order? Will it accept the flash drive?

Still on just a moment but did that yesterday only I am keeping the screen up but guess it will be no better than previous attempts

You're notebook doesn't have USB 3.1 ports, so the USB 3.0 drives are good enough.

I'd go with the $5 buck one...

As far as booting from the installation media...

You don't need to change the boot order.

Have the flash drive in a USB port.

Turn on or restart the PC.

Tap the ESC key at the beginning of the HP welcome screen to get the menu of options.

Select the F9 boot options menu, and from that, select the USB flash drive.

It should indicate the model of the flash drive...then press the Enter key.

Lucky I was able to order  $5 flas drive WALAMRT I can';t type wo lights...

Now can;t access aol error...never ends... AOL is down....guess they have bugs too!!!

i wrote the seller of the 9260...maybe he has advice??? Wonder if it could be a defective 9260 card? not likely but can't rule it out

Well I carefully took the wifi card out leaving anenna connected & wrapped it in paper to support it against the back cover

Tryin to see if it will load wo the wifi card...if its the wifi card it should...?????

Should have gone to best buy & bought a flash drive...waiting til thurs/fri  uuuggh

Still get the same just a moment.

I suppose the anennae cap could be welded to the wire again...of it broke> I have a small pen soldering iron & silver solder I bought a long time ago,,,not looking for more work but I want this resolved

Same think so maybe its not the wifi...!!!!

OOOPPPs seems its not an easy solder ...so back to being CAREFUL

Win 10 should load without a wifi card??? can't see why not as its not vital to its use????

Wifi 9260 is back in...

I had another idea.

If I loaded my files to another laptop then the flash drive would be blank.

I could then use it to get the media tools..

See if I can get the win working...

I can load the files back on the flash drive when I get the 16GB///

I will use the 16GB for any windows media...

Will I have to reformat the flashdrive,,,

I can;t see why I can't store the files on another laptop while I use the flashdrive to install windows to the ailing 9260 lap top???

I would have extra work but I coudl start today???
