Hi Imrana2,
Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand that you are facing an issue with your computer, I am glad to assist you today.
If your HP Pavilion with an Intel i5 processor is unable to detect your Jio AirFiber Wi-Fi network, there are several potential issues and troubleshooting steps you can consider:
1. Check Basic Connectivity:
- Ensure Wi-Fi is Enabled: Make sure that Wi-Fi is turned on your HP Pavilion. There might be a physical switch or a function key (like Fn + F2) that toggles Wi-Fi on and off.
- Confirm Network Visibility: Verify that your Jio AirFiber network is broadcasting its SSID (network name) and is not hidden. You can check this in the settings of your Jio AirFiber router.
2. Restart Devices:
- Restart the Laptop: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.
- Restart the Router: Power cycle your Jio AirFiber router by unplugging it for about 30 seconds and then plugging it back in.
3. Update Network Drivers:
- Check for Updates: Go to Device Manager → Network adapters, right-click on your Wi-Fi adapter, and select Update driver. Ensure that you have the latest driver installed.
- Download Drivers: You can also visit the HP support website or the Wi-Fi adapter manufacturer's site to download and install the latest drivers manually.
4. Check Network Settings:
- Forget and Reconnect: In Windows, go to Settings → Network & Internet → Wi-Fi → Manage known networks. Find your network (if listed), click on it, and select Forget. Then try reconnecting to the network.
- Network Troubleshooter: Use Windows' built-in network troubleshooter. Go to Settings → Update & Security → Troubleshoot → Additional troubleshooters → Internet Connections.
5. Verify Wi-Fi Network Settings:
- Band Compatibility: Ensure that your HP Pavilion supports the frequency band your Jio AirFiber is using (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz). Some older or budget devices may have trouble with 5 GHz networks.
- SSID Visibility: Make sure the SSID (network name) is visible and not set to hidden on the router.
6. Check for Interference:
- Reduce Interference: Ensure that there are no physical obstructions or electronic devices that could interfere with the Wi-Fi signal between your router and your HP Pavilion.
7. Check Router Settings:
- Channel Settings: Sometimes, changing the Wi-Fi channel on your router can help. Log in to your router’s settings page and try adjusting the channel.
- Update Router Firmware: Ensure that your Jio AirFiber router’s firmware is up to date.
8. Reset Network Settings:
- Reset TCP/IP Stack: Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run the following commands:
- Network Reset: Go to Settings → Network & Internet → Status → Network reset to reset all network settings to default.
9. Check for Windows Updates:
- Update Windows: Ensure your operating system is up to date, as updates can sometimes resolve compatibility issues.
10. Hardware Check:
- Inspect Wi-Fi Adapter: If none of the above steps work, there might be a hardware issue with your Wi-Fi adapter. Testing with a USB Wi-Fi adapter or visiting a technician might help identify if the internal Wi-Fi card is faulty.
If you’ve tried all these steps and still can't connect to your Jio AirFiber network, it might be helpful to check with HP support or the router’s manufacturer for further assistance.
