Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Dear People,

I have a HP Probook 4520S with Windows 10 Pro x64 on it and live in the Netherlands.

I like to update my wifi-module with part number : 600730-001 2.4 GHz with Bluetooth 3.0 and two antenne connections

based on Broadcom chipset BCM4313 with a better/faster module like :

Intel Centrino Advanced-N6200 802.11 a/b/g/n 2x2 with part number 572509-001.

This is with 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz and NO bluetooth.

My currently fimrware version is : 68AZZ Ver. F.61 (Date 25-4-2016).

Is this the best option which will work ? , can someone give me some advice?

Thanks in advance,

Kind Regards,

Vincent

Hi, Vincent:

Yes, that card and part number should work since it is listed in the service manual.

You must ensure the card you buy has that HP part number on it, or it will not work.

In other words, you can't just install any Intel 6200 wifi adapter.

Usually, I go on eBay and search by the HP part number, and then I only buy a card where is see that part number listed on the 'Replace with HP Spare' label in an actual photograph of the item for sale...not a stock illustration.

That would be the best card you can install in your model due to the BIOS whitelist which rejects the installation of any wifi card not listed in the service manual.

As you have already noted, your notebook will lose its bluetooth capability after you install the Intel dual band wifi card.

Hello Paul.

Thanks for your help, I have just bought a wifi-card : 572509-001with the HP-number on it for just 12 euro including delivery costs.

I am wondering if I want to order a seperate  bluethooth module, must this also on the white list ?

If I read the service manual, this is the only solution :

- 537921-001 Bluetooth module v2.1
- 599807-001 Base Cable Kit

Or is there a new/better version to buy that you know?

 Kind regards,

Vincent

You're very welcome, Vincent.

You will have to stick with the BT part numbers you referenced, because anything newer won't work and most HP notebooks went to the combination wifi/bluetooth cards, abandoning the older standalone bluetooth module.
