HP Elitebook G3
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi,

purchased a used elitebook G3 laptop so i can support legacy product development through windows 7. I have now installed win7 but having issues with drivers, even though i have downloaded and installed what i believe is required I have ended up with drivers uninstalled for the Hardware, In the device manager i am missing drivers for the ethernet and network controller, SM bus controller, PCI data acq and signal processing controller, PCI memory controller, and a couple of unknown's related to the PCI. Can anybody point me in the right direction to download the relevant drivers as I believe its just the PCI missing drivers causing the issue. Display, sound, port replicator all work OK.

Any help would be greatful

thanks

Jeff

I assume you want to use the laptop only for testing and it is to be 64bit windows 7.

You could go to the below site and locate your exact Elitebook and select windows 7.

https://www.computersurgeons.com/m-282-elitebook.aspx?pagenum=3

windows 7 recovery options start on page 3 and possibly are not available for your exact model of g3

There were a number of service packs for 7. I suspect it is not possible to download them from Microsoft nor any updates to the version of the internet explorer released with 7. It is possible the "recovery windows 7 x64" has the  exact original window 7 and might be missing newer service packs.

Model 840 G3 drivers are here.  Possibly the chipset drivers are what you need.  I had to guess the 840

Please provide the Product ID or exact model name for better assistance. Preferably the full product ID including the characters after the # symbol.

Hi, @JeffB64

You need these specific W7 drivers for the following devices:

SM bus controller, PCI data acq and signal processing controller, PCI memory controller:

This file for some reason, is not on any HP notebook's support page that has the Skylake chipset.

Intel Chipset Installation Utility and Driver

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp101001-101500/sp101367.exe

Restart the PC after installing the driver.

For the rest of the devices, please post the hardware ID's for them so I can figure out what drivers you need.

Use this guide for how to find the hardware ID for a device:

Ok,

using sp101367 solved some of the driver issues, I am now left with:

1.  Ethernet Controller: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1570&SUBSYS_8079103C&REV_21
2.  Network Controller: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24F3&SUBSYS_10108086&REV_3A

3.  PCI Simple Communications Controller : PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9D3A&SUBSYS_8079103C&REV_21

4.  Unknown Device: ACPI\HPQ6007

5.  Bluetooth Adapter: USB\VID_8087&PID_0A2B&REV_0001

the laptop: product code: L3C66AV, 16gb RAM I7-6500U, SN: 5CG70866JD

Those codes can be looked up here

The DriversCollection can be used to lookup VEN and DEV
https://us.driverscollection.com/Search/PCI%5CVEN_8086%26DEV_24D5%26SUBSYS_40021695

The site may not have all the drivers

You're very welcome.

I recommend that you download and install Microsoft Edge for W7, so you have an up-to-date browser:

Download Microsoft Edge
