HP Laptop PC 15s-fq2000 (2D119AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I've tried several times (including yesterday) to install the 24H2 update (that Microsoft is now pushing as mandatory). After each installation, WiFi cannot connect; specifically, WiFi cannot even operate to see routers or anything else. Reverting to 23H2 fixes the problem, so I'm still running 23H2.

All drivers are up to date. I have also tried the "uninstall/reboot to reinstall" for the wireless driver with no success, done the command-line sequence to reset ipconfig with no success, and screamed at the machine for five minutes with no success.

Suggestions? Bug fix? Use a different WiFi driver for the RealTek system?

Hi @Jaws650

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand you are unable to connect to Wi-Fi after updating to Windows 11 24H2, please follow the steps below:

1. Uninstall and Reinstall Wi-Fi Drivers

• Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
• Expand Network adapters.
• Right-click on your Wi-Fi adapter and select Uninstall device.
• Restart your PC to allow Windows to reinstall the default driver, or manually download the latest driver from your Wi-Fi adapter or laptop manufacturer’s website.

2. Disable Fast Startup

• Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do.
• Click on Change settings that are currently unavailable.
• Scroll down and uncheck Turn on fast startup.
• Restart your PC and try reconnecting to Wi-Fi.

3. Reset TCP/IP Stack

• Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
• Run the following commands one by one:

netsh int ip reset
netsh winsock reset
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

• Restart your PC after running these commands.

If this solution hit the spot, please come back and click "Accepted Solution" to help others find the answer. And if you'd like to say thanks, select "Yes" on the bottom left of the public post, as that would make our day!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

As stated in the initial note, I already tried the uninstall/reinstall cycle and the purge-the-TCP/IP-stack routines. I neglected to mention that one of the first things I do on a Windows machine is to disable Fast Startup.

In short, I've already done precisely what you've suggested with no effect. Please read inquiries more carefully.

Hi @Jaws650,

Thanks for all your efforts and patience.

Please try this:

Option 1

Run the network troubleshooter on Windows, you can go to Settings and then Network and Internet. You can also search for "Network Troubleshooter" in the taskbar search bar and RUN it.

Restart computer

Option 2

Uninstall driver:

If the issue persists. Uninstall the network adapter driver and restart the computer and have Windows automatically install the latest driver upon restart.

1. Press Windows key + X and select device manager.

2. Expand network adapter.

3. Right click on the driver and uninstall it.

4. Restart the computer and check the functionality.

If the issue persists, make sure your Windows 11 operating system is fully updated.

Go to Settings > Windows Update and check for updates.

Let me know how it goes, thank you!

Regards,
Hawks_Eye

This just repeats steps already taken. Please read the question and don't rely on prescripted responses already rejected as ineffective.
