HP G62-465DX
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Greetings,

      I would like some information regarding issues with a BIOS "Whitelist" or "Blacklist".

The machine is a HP G62-465DX and at the moment has all the original components and the Insyde BIOS F.35. I have ordered a small capacity SSD and plan to install Windows 10 64bit when the media arrives.

      I would like to upgrade the wireless card to the latest implementations ( at the time of this post July 26 2021), those being Wifi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 I would optionally like to have LTE support on the card as well but that appears to not be a viable option.

TLDR;

      Any information and suggestions regarding which Wifi6E/BT5.2  wireless card to use and which BIOS to use on a G62-465DX.

Thank You All

-Respectfully

Hi:

Unfortunately, your notebook has a BIOS whitelist, which will prevent you from upgrading the wifi card.

The HP BIOS whitelists were not generally removed until 2014, and your notebook is from around 2010.

Your only option for a wifi card upgrade would be with a USB wifi adapter.

    Thank you, Ill do a bit more research, however I believe that an internal upgrade is not going to be possible.

I am going to attempt to get a representative from Insyde to confirm this and all else fails I might consider a USB adapter.

     The machine only supports USB 2.0 and I am not sure if the Baudrate/Bandwidth will maximize the potential of the 5GHZ.

- With many respects to your time and advice

I will return to the forum with an update from Insyde as well as the solution or choice with all considerations I have taken
