Microsoft Windows 11

Hello, my notebook had Windows 10 originally installed and it appears that since I upgraded to Windows 11, the wifi drivers keep getting removed. I resolve the issue by running the HP Support tools to find and download needed drivers, but nonetheless they end up getting removed a few days later (through a Windows update maybe? not sure).

Any thoughts/suggestions?

PS - I have looked through the forums and tried various things I have found from threads that describe similar issues, but none have worked.

Hi:

What model Wi-Fi adapter does your notebook have?

The model series comes with several different model Wi-Fi adapters.

Intel Wireless AC-9461 802.11ac 1 × 1 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 5.1
Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201 802.11ax 2 × 2 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 5

Realtek RTL8822CE 802.11ac 2 × 2 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 5

Hi:

Check your Mediatek Wi-Fi device's driver and see if it is an older version than the one I have listed below.

If it is, then the only suggestion I can offer would be to update the driver to the latest version on the Microsoft Update catalog website.

1st one on the list.

Microsoft Update Catalog

It should install driver version 3.00.01.1275 with a date of 11/30/2022

There is no executable, so I have zipped up and attached the extracted driver files from the cabinet file, below.

Download and unzip the file to its folder.

Do not do anything with the files in the folder.

Go to the device manager.

Click to expand the Network Adapters device manager category.

Click on the Mediatek Wi-Fi adapter.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update driver.

Select the 'Browse my computer for drivers' option and browse to the driver folder you unzipped.

Make sure that the Include subfolders box is checked and the driver should install.

The driver was older, so I updated it as per your instructions. I'll monitor my notebook over the next few days and see if it gets removed again. I'll keep you updated so you know if this is a solution to the problem. Thank you so much Paul!

Whelp… I logged into my notebook and I saw it had no WiFi symbol in the taskbar, and the WiFi options are gone altogether (ie the options to connect to a WiFi network aren’t there). My Device Manager does not show any active Network Adapters. I select Show Hidden Devices and I can see the MediaTek device listed with a transparent symbol. Driver date is 11/30/2022 and the version is 3.0.1.1275. I’ll post some pics of what I see.

Whelp, looks like it was removed again. My taskbar does not show the WiFi icon, and when I click on the taskbar I don't have the option to connect to any WiFi networks. My Device Manager does not have any WiFi devices under the Network Adapters. I select to Show Hidden Devices and I see the MediaTek driver, but it is transparent. The driver has a date of 11/30/2022 and it is version 3.0.1.1275. I took some photos of what I see.

Any thoughts?
