Thank you Paul.

I went back to Windows 8.1. And will install Windows server 2012 R2 on Hyper-V. Thank you for your help.

You're very welcome.

Sorry that I was unable to help you get the wlan card to work on 2012 r2.

The real and only solution is to create a VM on virtual drive and install the specific OS that came pre-installed on the laptop as a guest OS on a virtual drive, so that, you can use all of the laptops hardware by switching to the workstation OS which is a VM instead of a workstation on the MBR partition you install it as a guest OS on a VHD.

Old post i know but for those looking for a solution, intel centrino n6205 will work fine with server 2012 r2.

Assuming you have installed the drivers from a workstation package, and the card is showing as installed in device manager, all you need to do after that is go into add roles and features and under features install the Wireless LAN Service then reboot. After restart confirm the WLAN auto config service is running.

Has worked fine on 3 differnt devices ive had with server installed and a wireles card present.
