Microsoft Windows 11

Laptop performed a Windows update. After a restart. The wireless connection was absent and the drivers were not showing after the update. I was able to download all of the Network drivers and place them on a USB drive. Even after install and restart, they are not showing under the device manager. Can any provide any assistance?

Hi @JadJohnson,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're encountering issues with your network drivers after a Windows update. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.

  • Check Device Manager: First, ensure that the drivers are not showing up in Device Manager. Sometimes they might be listed under a different category or with a yellow exclamation mark indicating an issue.
  • Uninstall Existing Drivers: If the drivers are listed but not working properly, try uninstalling them from Device Manager. Right-click on the network adapter, select "Uninstall device," and then restart your computer. Windows should attempt to reinstall the drivers automatically.
  • Install Drivers Manually: If the drivers are not automatically installing, try manually installing them from the USB drive. Right-click on the network adapter in Device Manager, select "Update driver," then choose "Browse my computer for drivers" and navigate to the folder on your USB drive where the drivers are located.
  • Scan for Hardware Changes: After installing the drivers, you can also try scanning for hardware changes in Device Manager. Right-click on your computer name at the top of the list and select "Scan for hardware changes."
  • Check BIOS Settings: Sometimes, network adapter functionality can be disabled in the BIOS settings. Restart your computer and enter the BIOS setup (usually by pressing a key like F2 or Del during startup). Look for any options related to wireless or network devices and ensure they are enabled.
  • System Restore: If none of the above steps work, you can try performing a system restore to revert your system to a previous state before the Windows update. This can sometimes resolve issues caused by updates.

By following these steps, you should hopefully be able to resolve the issue with your wireless connection and network drivers.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
