HP Pavilion g6 1313ax
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I recently reinstalled the Windows on my laptop, HP pavilion g6 1313ax. Once I did that, I noticed the wifi was not working. I opened up Device Management and It had the yellow exclamation points on Ethernet Controller, Network Controller, PCI Device and SM Bus controller. I thought it was a driver issue so I downloaded the corresponding driver from the HP support website but to no avail. The driver was not getting installed. It would open up the setup wizard and close abruptly. Then nothing happened. I downloaded the driver from the Mediatek website too, and the installation process got completed but there is still no change in the Device Manager neither is the adapter visible in the Change Adapter settings in the Control Panel Networking and Sharing Center.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I need this very urgently.

Hi:

According to the parts list for your notebook, it comes with an Atheros 9485GN 802.11b/g/n 1x1 WiFi and 3012 Bluetooth 4.0 combination adapter.

That would explain why the Ralink wireless card driver doesn't work.

You need these wireless and bluetooth drivers for the Atheros card...

This package contains the drivers for the supported Atheros Wireless LAN Adapters in the supported notebook models running a supported operating system.

File name: sp54972.exe

This package contains the driver installation package for the Atheros Bluetooth in the supported notebook models and operating systems.

File name: sp55714.exe

Ethenet Controller:

This package provides the Realtek Local Area Network (LAN) Driver that enables the Realtek Network Interface Card (NIC) Chip in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system.

File name: sp55083.exe

PCI Device:

This package contains the driver that enables the Realtek Card Reader in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. The card reader enables users to read from or write to supported removable storage cards, which are typically used in digital cameras, digital music players, and cellular phones.

File name: sp55085.exe

SMBus Controller:

I have zipped up and attached the smbus controller driver you need below.

Download and unzip the file to its folder.  Do not do anything with the files in the folder.

Go to the device manager and click on the smbus controller device needing the driver.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the driver folder you unzipped.

Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and the driver should install.

Then restart the PC.
