HP ZBook 15 Mobile Workstation (ENERGY STAR)

Installed the 9260 AC 3 years ago as the 7260 AC kept stopping & no drivers would work it.

The 9260 does the same so I have not used wifi in 3 years.

Thinking of trying another 7260AC just for the heck of it.

This problem with the wifi card has been a nightmare. Just going to give it another try

The 9260 when I try to use wifi runs for a half hour than cuts out & can't be fixed.

Says something like it won't bind to the protocol.Won't bind protocol...?Won't bind protocol...?

So is the part # 710663-001 0H 7260NGW

How can I tell the wifi card is for a HP?

I see some with same part # for Dell.

This was my wifi card.. Thanks

I full day & wifi  still working...It found its own drivers from my laptop.

I think the blue tooth did not so its unknown but I am not going to install drivers for it or change anything as to avoid

the chance of messing the wifi as I don't need blue tooth.

Anyway I guess I should have bought the same card in 2019 as the 9260 did not work I also noticed it has an extra gold

bar on it but everything else lined up.

Thanks~~~

I updated  download of intel pro wireless & restarted & I have wifi for 30 min so far. 😃

It might be encountering errors like it does & then shuts down. I can't hope its fixed but  the 9260 can run the wifi its just not been stable. Also it will run with a older 2018 driver. The newer 160 mhz driver crashes it.

I wonder if I should just have it set to the 2.2 & disable the 5?

It should not be that critical...

Anyway just wanted to reports some good newscap wif works 30 min .JPG

Hi:

To answer your original question, as long as the Intel 7260 AC card you want to buy has the same SPS # on the Intel label as the HP part number (710663-001), it should work.

Things have changed in the last few months...Intel has now completely removed all driver support for the Intel 7260AC including the Bluetooth driver.

Fortunately, I have an Intel 7260AC card in the HMC form factor and I saved the last Wi-Fi & Bluetooth drivers that Intel released for the card.

I have had zero issues with my Intel 7260 using the drivers, and I am now running W11 on my HP 350 G1 and the drivers still work perfectly fine.

They are newer than the generic one that W10 installs.

If you decide to install an Intel 7260 AC card again, I have shared the link to my Skydrive folder with you at the link below.

I bundled both driver files in a zip file labeled Intel 7260AC WiFi & Bluetooth Drivers.zip

Hi,

That was very nice of you.

I tried the 9260 as I figured it would be supported but I can't make it work for more than a half hour & it pulls up a few errors  as second so something is really wrong.

I can get a cheap 7260 for about $10 so figured it was worth a last attempt.

I have wifi cards in older HP elite books, the Z 15 G1 & even a older elitebook & the wifi works on all of those but the 7260 on this one was doing th same thing failing & getting errors so I really did not know if it was drivers for it or the card itself.

I keep most of my old drivers & SP's. I likely have all the stuff for the 7260 AC but thanks. There is so much in that zip drive. Would I need all that?

I think someone got the 9260 to work in the Z 15G2 but I can't seem to do it & 3 years ago I really was looking into errors & everything I could so I don't think there is much more I can do if the 9260 drivers are not working it wo 50,000 errors in a short while.

You're very welcome.

Yes, if you install the 7260, there is no more Bluetooth driver for it from Intel or HP or Microsoft update, so you will need to install at least the Bluetooth driver, and as I posted yesterday, the driver I uploaded is a bit newer than the one Microsoft installs automatically with W10.

Have you tried a reinstall of W10 to rule out any OS registry issues and what not?

If not, you may want to try that first with the Intel 9260 installed.

I just tried again to do the wifi unplugged it & I'm on wifi again...

Trouble is it never lasts. I keep hoping somehow its some setting but at one point I will have to give that up.

Not really keen about taking the 9260 out & reinstalling the 7260 as those thin wires can only take so much in & out of the card & last time I was switching it its hard to get those wires on the posts/

Says 9260 AC is working properly but

I have this under details that it needs further installation..What does it mean?

Reset 203 times in 20 min w about 10 error/sec Seems it has to do with the driver but the newest driver for it is worse than this one I have from 2018 that works at least for a short while before its shut down.

Capture wifi card reset 203 times (2).JPG

Not sure what to do but I'm sure this wifi connection won't be for very long & I don't mind plugging the wire in it but it can be inconvienent.

HP Recommended

I'd be reinstalling W10, and see what happens.

Let W10 install the default Wi-Fi and BT drivers for the 9260.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to help you with the Windows error reports.

I don't ever look at those.

HP Recommended

Down again after 300 resets now it again says something might be wrong with the driver. I really don't think chancing reinstalling win 10 is worth the risk for the wifi.

I really need to back up & right now don;t have the time & to loose files or have a problem with win 10 is not wanted...

They do have reinstall & save files/

I may have tried that years ago with no benefit.

I just ran the intell pro tools & have to restart so we'll see but I doubt after 3 years there is a magic fix to th 9260 card & it was new.

wifi is removed from the settings yet in device manager it says the 9260 os working properly. The 7260 use to be worse but that could have been a failed card. Maybe its worth the $10 to reinstall the 7260 & see if it will work better

I downloaded your files but I'm not sure which is the drivers/

Now to restart & see whats up///

Thanks
