Usually missing graphics driver causes inability to adjust brightness. You need Intel MEI driver for the pci error.

The AMD Graphics driver didn't fix the brightness controls? Have you restarted the laptop?

Try installing the Intel graphics driver too.The AMD driver should have installed both intel/amd but try it as seperate install.
Install HP Quick Launch Software under category Software-Solutions on your driver page.
Have you tried fn + brightness key as well as brightness key alone?
