HP ENVY dv7 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Can connect to public wi-fi without a problem (Starbucks, library, etc).

Can't connect to my wireless router.

Can connect to it through ethernet cable.

Other laptops, both windows and mac can connect to the router without a problem.

Tried all the troubleshooting out there: reinstalled the driver, restored the system, BIOS, command prompt manual reset. Nothing works.

You can connect your machine elsewhere that means nothing wrong with it. Please allow your wireless router to broadcast BOTH bands which are 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz and connect your dv7 to 2.4GHz only. This should work.

Regards.

Would appreciate advice on how to allow the router to broadcast both bands. The router has no controllers except the reset button, which I have already reset.

How do I find out at what bands it's broadcasting? And then where do I choose the 2.4 band on my dv7?

Thank you.

Yes, my router is dual 2.4 and 5 ghz. My hp envy dv7 is 2.4 ghz. Still no connection. Please, consider the following:

1. I lost my wireless connection abruptly after some internet transactions.

2. My other 2 devices windows 10 and Mac have no problem connecting to my wifi.

3. My HP has no problem connecting to public wifi, e.g. Starbucks, public library. It cannot connect only to my home wifi.

4. I've done all the troubleshooting found online: updating/reinstalling the driver, resetting the router, resetting wifi with new name and password, restoring network settings.

5. HP tech support suggested system restore, which i don't want to do because it'll wipe out all my installed software.

Any ideas?
