We need the full model of the laptop to be sure it is newer than the HP whitelist. I believe most if not all M6 models are. You have 2 antennae so you can install any mini-pcie adapter.

This one says no HP or Lenovo but that only matters if your laptop has the whitelist, which we will know for sure when you give us the full model number. If the processor is at least Intel Core 4th gen you have no whitelist.

Post back with any questions and please accept as solution if its the info you needed.

Its a 3rd gen Intel Core and came with Windows 8 originally. There is no 5ghz wireless card originally offered for your machine which means if there is a whitelist the one I linked above will not work. Your laptop is right at the borderline where whitelist was dropped. I believe that it has been stated here yours is past the whitelist but I am not sure. Maybe others can weigh in here.

Hi, @Tigeritis

A couple of forum members installed the Intel 7260 on their M6's, and while the BIOS did not reject the card, it did not work.

The drivers installed, but no wifi connection could be made.

I found that very odd since the older dv6-7xxx models run that model wifi card just fine.

I cannot find any of the posts that support my statement.
