Hi, 

I have a Hp stream 8 laptop and when I take the charger off it shuts down, a few weeks ago I took it to my local laptop service shop and they said there is a problem  with the charger so we bought one and it’s still doing the same thing hope this helped understand the issue

You machine is not in front of me. I've got no idea why they told you to buy new charger. They should say to you buy new battery. Can you run a battery test now ? May be you can't because the battery does not hold charge.
