compatible WiFi replacement/upgrade

HP Recommended

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an older dv7-6135dx all upgraded memory and stuff. except the processor that is good enough for now. I have 3 laptops all the same (16gb ram + 2, tb drives) I down loaded the service manual -http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02842278- and it says compatible WiFi card with Bluetooth is "Realtek RTL8188CE 802.11b/g/n 1×1 WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0LE Combo Adapter" I Purchased one online and when I booted up the bios says that card is incompatible. Tried it on all 3 laptops and same. Is there a mistake in some sort of white list or is the manual wrong?

Hi:

You can only install the wifi card that is listed in the parts list for your notebook.

http://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?searchText=LW174UA

It must also have the HP part number on it or it will not work.

The service manual is incorrect for some of the cards listed, but also the only models that may take more than one wifi card are the configured to order (CTO) models such as the dv7-6100 CTO.

So the only card that is going to work is this one...

The only cards I would consider buying are the ones where you actually see the 'Replace with HP spare' label with that part number on it.
