My computer disconnects from the internet every 5 mins then reconnects.  Realtek RTL8852BE WiFi 6 802.11ax PCIe Adapter. I have done a complete re-install and that didn't solve the issue.

Hi @Marti902,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating it is when your HP 17t-cn300 laptop keeps disconnecting from Wi-Fi every few minutes, especially after a full reinstall didn’t help. Let’s walk through the most effective steps to fix this.

Step 1: Update to the Latest Realtek Driver

HP released a driver update that specifically addresses issues with Wi-Fi instability, auto-reboots, and access point detection failures.

Instructions:

  1. Download the .exe file.
  2. Run it and follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. Restart your laptop after installation.

Step 2: Disable Power Saving for Wi-Fi Adapter

  1. Press Windows + X → choose Device Manager.
  2. Expand Network Adapters → right-click Realtek RTL8852BEProperties.
  3. Go to the Power Management tab.
  4. Uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”.
  5. Click OK.

Step 3: Run HP Network Diagnostics

Use HP’s built-in tool to scan and fix network issues:

Step 4: Reset Network Settings (Optional)

If the issue persists:

  1. Go to SettingsNetwork & InternetAdvanced Network SettingsNetwork Reset.
  2. Restart your laptop and reconnect to Wi-Fi.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
