HP Pavilion Desktop - 570-p064

Status bar is showing "no device" in hidden icons.  System also shows no drivers for device MS_idd_BUS_03 when viewing hardware.  When I remove the device, it just comes back after reboot.  How do I get driver for device or get rid of it?  Is this the device referred to in status bar as "no device"

Hi @ECOfficejetpro,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you are encountering an issue with a missing driver or unrecognized device on your HP Pavilion Desktop, specifically related to "ms_idd_bus_03". Here’s a step-by-step approach to address this.

Identify the Device

Firstly, it's important to identify what "ms_idd_bus_03" refers to. It could be a component related to Intel Dynamic Device, which sometimes appears as "Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework". This framework manages power and thermal settings on Intel-based systems.

Update Drivers

Since the device keeps reappearing even after removal, it indicates that Windows is trying to manage or reinstall the driver automatically. Here’s how you can update the driver:

Device Manager Method:

  1. Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
  2. Look for any entries related to "ms_idd_bus_03" under System devices or Other devices.
  3. Right-click on the device, choose Update driver, and then select Search automatically for updated driver software.

HP Support Assistant:

  1. HP usually provides a tool called HP Support Assistant which can automatically detect and install updates for your system. Use this tool to check for driver updates.

Remove Unused Drivers

If the driver update doesn’t resolve the issue and you want to remove the device completely:

  • Device Manager Method:
    1. In Device Manager, locate the device under System devices or Other devices.
    2. Right-click on the device and select Uninstall device.
    3. If prompted, check the box that says Delete the driver software for this device.
    4. Click Uninstall.

Check Status Icons

Regarding the "no device" status in the system tray (hidden icons), this typically indicates that a device is not recognized or a driver is missing. Once you resolve the driver issue for "ms_idd_bus_03", this status should ideally disappear.

System Restore (if necessary)

If the issue persists after trying the above steps, you might consider using System Restore to revert your system to a point before the issue started occurring. This can sometimes resolve driver conflicts.

By following these steps, you should be able to either install the necessary driver for "ms_idd_bus_03" or remove it if it’s causing persistent issues. Always ensure to back up important data before making significant changes to your system.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
