My Envy Notebook is having difficulty with recieving wireless signals at a reasonalbe distance from the wireless router.  When the computer is in the same room as the router everthing is OK, but at 50 feet away, it works intermittenly even though the wireless properties show 4 bars out of 5 at that distance.

I have replaced my old wireless router with a Netgear AC1900, a very highly rated wireless router and the problem did not change.

I have read about all the problems with the Intel N2230 wireless card and I don't seem to have those problems.

Should I replace the wireless card?   I would like to know what other wireless cards are compatible with this notebook just in case it it an N2230 issue.

The serial number of the Envy is [Personal Information Removed]

Thank you for replying to my message.   Here is my computer information.Capture.JPG

I read the help on improving my wireless connection but my second HP notebook at home works fine, and I have tried my HP ENVY at Starbucks using their wireless feed.  The ENVY was cutting out there too, yet my smartphone worked fine on their wireless, so I am suspecting either a bad N2230 wireless board or something else.  I should also add that the computer worked fine under Windows 7 and 8 but when I switched to Windows 10 the problem showed up.  Was that coincidental or Windows 10?

I had seen posts for other HP computers where people asked what other card could be used instead of the N2230 and they were given a list of compatible wireless cards, so that is what I am looking for.  If my card is bad, I would eliminate both possibilities.

Hi,

There is a problem here: I can't find V8P47AV any where from HP and Google can't find it too. I expect something like this:

       http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754263

which is a E0K05UA.

I believe your machine is in the same family with the above machine. Please use the following manual, page 45 to find the right part and order from HP. This part is user replacable and please follow instructions from page 45 to replace it.

Did you mean C8P47AV  not V8P47AV.  That is the product number I sent you.

My computer is this one.  http://www.pcmag.com/article2/   HP Envy TouchSmart 15t-j100 Quad Edition

I installed the Intel bluetooth driver that you identified.  The problem got worst so now I am using my wifes computer to respond.  The wireless connection is dropping out in the room with the router now.   Would you know how to uninstall that bluetooth driver.  In Device Manager, Roll Back is grayed out for the new driver.

Maybe we are getting somewhere.

To further help I am inserting the original HP order which was customized purchasing online.

Thank you so much for the links.

The one with all the Intel drivers for the N2230 had mostly drivers for the Bluetooth function of the card, but not the wi fi.  I tried installing the last wi fi driver which was for Windows 8.1 but when installing other than the usual windows approval screen, no installation program promps after that and no change in driver in Device Manager.

As far as the bluetooth driver, when I installed the latest one you gave me, it must have been allready the same one, thus the roll back was grayed out.  I don't know what happened last night but the wifi is working fine now when close to the router.

I did try to roll back the current 15.18.0.1 driver and it did not help so I went back.

I will try to replace the wireless adapter with another one.  Again thanks again for you great help.
