@toffeesoundy44, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
To extend the connection time of your HP wireless keyboard and keep it active without reactivation, you can try a few methods:
Check Power Settings: Ensure your keyboard is not in a power-saving mode that reduces connection time. You can do this by navigating to your computer's power settings and making the necessary adjustments.
Re-synchronization: Ensure your wireless keyboard is properly synchronized with the receiver. To do this, unplug the receiver from the USB port on your computer and plug it back in. Then, press the Connect button on your keyboard for 5 to 10 seconds to re-establish the connection.
Replace Batteries: If your keyboard uses batteries, make sure they are fully charged or replace them if necessary.
Distance from Receiver: Ensure that the keyboard is within the recommended range from the receiver for consistent connection. Typically, for normal use, the range is about 3 meters (10 feet).
Interference: Keep the keyboard and receiver away from devices that may cause interference, such as microwave ovens or other wireless devices.
Operating System Updates: Ensure your operating system and device drivers are up-to-date, as this could affect connectivity.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.

hello Garp.
Thanks for your answer, unfortunately it still doesn't work.
- Check Power Settings: Ensure your keyboard is not in a power-saving mode that reduces connection time. You can do this by navigating to your computer's power settings and making the necessary adjustments
I DO NOT HAVE THIS SETTING FOR BLUETOOTH KEYPAD ON MY COMPUTER (MAC OS 15.6.1)
AND I CAN'T SEE ANY POWER SETTINGS ONT YOUR APP (SEE THE PICTURE)
Re-synchronization:
Replace Batteries
Distance from Receiver
Interference
I DO NOT HAVE CONNECTION PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS THAT AFTER 10 SECONDS OR SO, MY KEYPAD PUTS HIMSELF IN A KIND OF SLEEP MODE. TO REACTIVATE IT, I MUST CLICK ON A KEY AND WAIT 2 SECONDS. IT'S REALLY NOT CONFORTABLE.
Operating System Updates
ALL SEEMS ALL RIGHT
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP AGAIN, BEST REGARDS

Thanks for replying. @toffeesoundy44.
My apologies for the delayed response.
Thank you for the detailed follow-up and for sharing the screenshot—it’s clear you’ve explored the settings thoroughly. I understand how disruptive it feels when your keypad slips into sleep mode mid-task, forcing you to wait each time it reactivates.
Let’s focus on what can be done within the HP Accessory Center and macOS environment to improve responsiveness.
Here’s what you can try next:
HP Accessory Center – Notification Settings
From your screenshot, it looks like the app is managing system notifications and battery alerts, but not sleep behavior directly. However, you can try this:
- Open HP Accessory Center.
- Go to “Préférences” or “General” tab.
- Disable any settings that mention “automatic restoration” or “reduce system tray activity.” These may be linked to power-saving triggers.
- Save changes and restart the app.
macOS Bluetooth Sleep Behavior
While macOS doesn’t offer direct control over Bluetooth device sleep timers, you can try keeping the connection active by:
- Opening System Settings > Bluetooth.
- Ensure your keypad is listed as “Connected” and not “Idle.”
- Keep a lightweight app open that polls keyboard input (e.g., Notes or TextEdit). This can sometimes prevent sleep mode from triggering.
Prevent App Nap (macOS)
App Nap can affect background accessories. To disable it:
- Open Finder > Applications > HP Accessory Center.
- Right-click > Get Info.
- Check “Prevent App Nap” if available.
Firmware Check
Your screenshot confirms the firmware is up to date. That’s great. If HP releases a future update with extended activity timeout, it will appear in this section.
Alternative Workaround
If the keypad is programmable, you might be able to assign a macro or shortcut that sends a harmless keystroke every few seconds. This would keep the device awake without affecting your workflow. Check if the HP Accessory Center offers macro settings for your model (HP 415 Programmable Wireless Keypad).
If none of these steps resolve the issue, the sleep behavior may be embedded in the device firmware and not adjustable from macOS or HP software. In that case, keeping a polling app open or using a macro may be your best workaround.

hello Hawks_Eye,
thank you very much for your help. Unfortunately your different tips didn't work. Some of them don't exist (Macro options for example, or thse bluetooth options, disable nap power from the App information). I tried something I found on the web. In the terminal, but it didn't work (
mac-mini-KRIS:~ christophehavard$ HPAccessoryCenter NSAppSleepDisabled -bool true
-bash: HPAccessoryCenter: command not found)
So, would it be possible to send my request to the HP developers in order to update the app in the future?
thanks again
best regards
kris

Hello, thanks for your message. As this private message indicates, I contacted the support by phone. After many services (more or less 20mn), the line has been cut off. I must say that the different services were surprised that I contacted them whereas my computer is a Mac Mini. Does-it mean this product (HP 435 Programmable Wireless Keypad) is not reliable on this computer?
have a good day. Best regards
