Hi @CashaRegEtc,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for reaching out. I'll be happy to help.

If you're trying to connect your mobile device directly to your HP DeskJet 4258e printer, you'll need the printer's Wi-Fi Direct password.

Find the Wi-Fi Direct Password:

  1. Make sure plain paper is loaded in the printer.

  2. Press the Information (i) button on the printer.

  3. An information page will print.

  4. On the printout, locate:

    • Wi-Fi Direct Name (typically something like DIRECT-xx-HP DeskJet 4200 series)

    • Wi-Fi Direct Password (Network Key)

Connect Your Mobile Device:

  1. Open Wi-Fi Settings on your phone or tablet.

  2. Select the printer's Wi-Fi Direct network (DIRECT-xx-HP DeskJet 4200 series).

  3. Enter the password shown on the information page.

Alternatively, Using the HP App

If the printer is already set up in the HP app:

  1. Open the HP APP.

  2. Select your printer.

  3. Go to Advanced Settings > Wi-Fi Direct.

  4. View or change the Wi-Fi Direct password as needed.

Note: Some HP printers use a default Wi-Fi Direct password of 12345678, but the information page will show the exact password currently configured on your printer.

I hope this helps. Please let us know if you need any further assistance.

Take care and have a great day!

I'm an HP Employee.
