Put this way if you didn't request service calls or are on a Service Ticket then consider it a scam and don't give remote access to your laptop or email acccount or any identifying information about you. No one from Microsoft support nor HP support will call unless you give your consent for them to call you. Also I would report that to HP support or Microsoft support depending on whom they say they are representing also ask them to give their Empolyee ID number and Call back number. That will make them think twice about calling you. This is a good method to force them to identify themselves and then you can call HP or Microsoft Support and give the info to verify this is legit.

Hi,

Most probably yes.

Don't reveal any personal details, banking/credit card details or your machine details or give access to him to your machine remotely.

Yeah dont do it! I fell for it paid 349.00 for "protection" against EVERYTHING supposedly. He remotely cleaned up my computer and next thing u know my web cam is on and hes doing 2 trials of something. Then he brought up something i looked up on my tablet! Then a day or 2 later i was cooking dinner and my web cam just came on out of the blue. So i gave them filthy gestures and finally closed it out. Ive filed reports with the local sheriffs dept and they took a report but said were too small of a dept to be able to investigate the computer so he took a police report, also filed a complaint with the f.b.i., notified all 3 credit bureaus, credit card companies, internet provider, and hp. Is there anyone ive forgotten? And what do i do now? My credit card company filed a dispute for the charges, but i dont know whether i should trash the computer or have it restored to factory settings. Ive put alot of money into this computer already i hate the thought of just junking it. Also my internet provider said to bring in my equipment and theyll swap it out for new i.p. address but i heard thats not necessary. As of now the notebook is unplugged feom everything and shut off with the battery removed. Somebody please help! Im not computer literate...obviously. Im a wreck. I dont know where to begin, theres 3 of us living in the home whos identity could have been breached. If anyone has suggestions im willing to listen to anything at this point! Thank you

Tip: Put tape or something that doesnt allow light through over your webcam.

Ps: if your skilled enough, you can try to disable and/or stop windows and third party remote control services, disable/uninstall drivers for things like your webcam(do this at your own discretion). Have a gr8 day
