Microsoft Windows 11

I could really use your help here.

I have a hp envy x360 2 in 1. I had some problems, and the hp support advised me to make a bootable usb and reinstall a fresh copy of windows. So far, so good. I wiped the laptop clean and install a fresh copy of windows. I got to the part of setting up the laptop and i got stuck at the "Let's connect you to a network" screen.

There it says i need an internet connection to continue setting up the device and i need to install a network adapter driver.

I used another laptop to download drivers from hp page, put them on a stick and on the hp laptop when i click install driver and use the stick they doesn'y show up and if i select the usb stick as a folder to search, it says that no network drivers are found.

I can't advance from this step. Can anyone help me? I'm using wrong drivers or am i doing something wrong.

Thank you

Hi @vlad523108,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I can imagine how frustrating it must feel to be stuck in the setup process, especially after going through the effort of reinstalling Windows. Let's work through this together to get your laptop up and running smoothly.

  • Did you download the drivers specifically for your HP Envy x360's exact model number and Windows version (e.g., Windows 11 or 10, 64-bit)?
  • When transferring the drivers to the USB stick, did you ensure they were extracted if they were in a compressed format (e.g., ZIP file)?
  • Does your laptop support Wi-Fi or Ethernet, and do you have an Ethernet cable handy to connect directly if needed?

Let's try these steps.

Ensure Correct Driver Download:
Double-check that you downloaded the network adapter drivers for your exact HP Envy x360 model and operating system. Visit the HP support site, enter your model number, and download the Wi-Fi or Ethernet driver.

Extract Driver Files (if needed):
If the downloaded driver files are in a ZIP or EXE format:

  • On the other laptop, extract the ZIP file (right-click > Extract All) or run the EXE file and choose Extract driver files instead of directly installing them.
  • Transfer the extracted files to the USB stick.

Use the Correct Installation Method:

  • Plug the USB into the HP Envy x360.
  • On the "Let’s connect you to a network" screen, click Install driver, navigate to the USB stick, and ensure you are selecting the folder containing the extracted INF files (driver files). Windows requires these specific files to detect and install the drivers.

Try Ethernet (if applicable):

  • If your HP Envy x360 has an Ethernet port, connect it directly to a router using an Ethernet cable to bypass the Wi-Fi driver issue.
  • Once connected, let Windows search and download the necessary drivers automatically.

Create an Offline Local Account as a Workaround:

  • If network drivers are not being detected, bypass the internet requirement:
    • On the "Let’s connect you to a network" screen, press Shift + F10 to open Command Prompt.
    • Type OOBE\BYPASSNRO and press Enter.
    • Your laptop will restart, and you’ll be allowed to set up a local account without an internet connection.
    • Once Windows is set up, install the drivers from the USB using Device Manager.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
