hello

when i open my hp 645 g4 to replace ssd storage i found sim slot

 is it functioning  ?? i mean can i plug sim card and use it for cellular connectivity?

& if so where is the option in windows to do such

Hi:

 

Not exactly.

 

Every HP Probook 645 G4 has a SIM card slot.

 

What 90% of them don't have is the optional and expensive WWAN (mobile broadband) adapter that is needed to connect to a cellular network.

 

All the SIM card does is to allow you to use your cellular carrier's network.

 

In order for the SIM card to work your notebook must have one of the following model WWAN adapters listed in the device manager under the Network Adapters device manager category.

 

HP lt4132, LTE

Intel XMM 7360 LTE

 

The cards and part numbers are listed in chapter 3 of the service manual at the link below.

 

Before buying one of the above model WWAN adapters, make sure your notebook has the required antenna wires present where the WWAN adapter installs.

 

Chapter 6 has the WWAN adapter installation procedure.
