I am having the same problem, except my printer says it is connected to the network and the wireless light is on (not blinking). I had Frontier send me a new wireless router as we were having many connectivity problems with the old router. I have set up a new network with a new SSID and reconnected all my devices to it. However, the printer has just stopped printing and I cannot seem to solve it. I have tried all sorts of things, including turning off my Windows firewall, running the troubleshoot program, and the HP Print and Scan Doctor 5.0. It just does not connect to my printer and cannot find it. I cannot even get the warranty check to work to see if I am still under warranty. I also noticed this FAX printer keeps showing up, and have made sure it is not the default. (Who uses a fax anymore anyway?) Any help for me would be appreciated.

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that you have an HP Officejet 4630 e-All-in-One Printer and looks as though is connected to the wireless network and the wireless light does not blink. Your Internet Service Provider has changed the router initially and the printer worked fine for a while. You have tried the print and scan doctor program and the issue still persists. I appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a good job.

I would like to know the following information to assist you better:

  • Are other devices communicating fine on the wireless network
  • Does the printer respond if you try to print from other computers (if available) which are in the same network?
  • What operating system are you using?

I did some research and looks as though the drivers are corrupt. Let us try to uninstall the printer drivers from the root level and then reinstall them by following steps:

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.

Please download and install the printer drivers from this link: www.123.hp.com

Hope this information helps. Cheers! 🙂

I already did the reinstall of the drivers. That seemed to fix everything Saturday. Then today... back to the same problem.  I have never had any problems with this printer before our new wireless router. Devices just don't seem to find it on the Network. Not sure why. So all my print jobs end up in the "What's Printing" window with "Error Printing" next to their status.

UPDATE: So I tried to print 2 things. Saw the same error message and no printing resulted. Rather than cancelling the print jobs, I logged in here to read your response to see if there was any new or more helpful information, as I had thought it was solved Saturday with the new drivers reinstalled. So I had not even read your reply. As I was typing this response, my printer suddenly burst into life and printed both of the files! Can you explain that? It was a 5-10 minute delay from when the print job was sent to when it somehow magically recognized the printer and sent it.

I am starting to wonder if there is a router setting keeping devices from being able to see the printer on the network, or that might explain some of the major communication delays I am experiencing. I may call my wireless company to see if they have any recommendations for my more advanced wireless router settings to work with devices like this printer.

Thanks for your reply. 🙂

I'm glad to know that printer once again started to work. However, do let me know what happens when you talk to your wireless company. Meanwhile, I will carry on my research. Cheers! 🙂

I just waited 20 minutes and printed another job and it printed immediately without any delays. Not sure what the issue was or is... or if it will just do this delay periodically.

Hi @sm00thtaco,

Thank you for replying,

I appreciate your time and efforts,

As I understand you have followed the steps suggested and still having the isssue, don't worry as I have a few other steps which should help you to resolve the issue,

Let's try the steps below to fix the issue.

  • First, assign a manual IP to your printer by obtaining the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address.
  • Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
  • Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
  • Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
  • Click on radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)

Now we need to reinstall the printer. Try the steps blow:

  • Unplug the USB cable from the printer and computer if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Officejet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Now download and install the full feature software using this link.
  • In the connection window, choose “wireless” and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the setup.

Let me know if that helps or if you need further assistance.

Cheers!
