i am  majid from Iran and my English is not very good,
i have an annoying problem with the Bluetooth of my Laptop.

i see the Bluetooth icon in my taskbar
i can turn it on or off
but i cant connect to any devices, or i cant send or receive any file from any devices.
I  checked allow Bluetooth devices to find me, but any devices cant find me,
and of course i cant find them,
i shared this problem with two or three Microsoft agents, but they couldn't  do anything for me, except, update my drivers and disable and enable my drivers, and uninstall that and then install theme.

Hi:

Go to the device manager.

There should be a Bluetooth device manager category.

Click to expand that category and let me know what model Bluetooth adapter is listed there.

If it just reports 'Generic Bluetooth adapter,' click on that, and post the hardware ID for it, so I can figure out what model Bluetooth adapter it is.

Use this guide for how to find the hardware ID for a device:

How to Find Drivers for Unknown Devices in the Device Manager

Also let me know what operating system you are running on the notebook if it is not Windows 7, which was the original operating system the notebook came with.

hello

 I'm using win 10
but my original operating system was win 7
Thank you very much for your response and responsibility,

when i Click to expand that category my Bluetooth adapter is Generic Bluetooth adapter,
and there are two another Bluetooth icon: Bluetooth device( RFCOMM protocol TDI )
and Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator.

when i click on Generic Bluetooth adaptor, there isn't any useful information in main tab,

in other tab

Hi:

To find the hardware ID for the Bluetooth device, you have to click on the Details tab and then use the drop down list to select the hardware ID for the device.

Take another look at the link I posted.

I'm pretty sure that the reason the BT won't connect to anything is because the driver for the model Bluetooth device your notebook comes with is not installed, so Windows calls it a Generic Bluetooth device.

I have to know the hardware ID so I can look it up, see who makes it (Broadcom, Ralink, Intel, Atheros), to see if I can find a W10 driver you can install.

Don't get your hopes up though because that is an old notebook and was not supported by HP for W10, so there may be no drivers for the model Bluetooth adapter it comes with.

I'm hoping there is, though.
