hp omnibook 3

I recently purchased the HP OmniBook 3 laptop w/AI bc it was noted that it has an internal wifi card; I work on the go so that is a big plus. How do I get it to turn on? I have home internet so when I brought it home I set it up with that wifi. Someone please help.

Hi  @JenGarcia

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thank you for reaching out, and congratulations on your new HP OmniBook 3 notebook! I can certainly help you look into this.

To better understand your situation, when you mention an "internal Wi‑Fi card," are you referring to:

  • A built-in wireless internet adapter (Wi‑Fi) used to connect to Wi‑Fi networks?
  • Or a cellular/mobile broadband (4G/5G) module with a SIM/eSIM for internet access while traveling?

Could you also kindly let us know:

  1. Are you trying to connect to the internet outside your home without using a phone hotspot?
  2. Do you see a SIM card slot on the laptop?
  3. When you open Settings > Network & Internet, do you see an option called Cellular?
  4. Have you already activated a mobile data plan with a carrier?

In the meantime, here are a few steps you can try:

Check if the laptop has Cellular/Mobile Broadband capability

  1. Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Network adapters.
  3. Look for entries that mention terms such as:
    • Mobile Broadband
    • WWAN
    • LTE
    • 4G
    • 5G
    • Qualcomm Snapdragon X-series modem
  4. Let us know what you see listed there.

Check Windows Cellular Settings

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Network & Internet.
  3. Look for a Cellular option on the left or in the main settings pane.
  4. If Cellular is available, select it and check whether mobile data can be enabled.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics - Click here for steps

  1. Turn off the notebook.
  2. Turn it back on and repeatedly tap F2.
  3. Open Component Tests and run the Wireless Module Test if available.
  4. Share the results with us.

Verify Wireless Drivers

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. Expand Network adapters.
  3. Check for any devices showing a yellow warning symbol.
  4. If present, kindly let us know the device name.

I hope this helps.
