Hi @mendhauz,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for sharing the details! Since your HP Laptop PC 15-dw3000 running Windows 11 is having trouble reconnecting to your 5 GHz Wi-Fi network, let's try a few steps to try and fix the issue:

1. Check if 5 GHz is Supported

Your laptop likely supports 5 GHz if it connected earlier, but to confirm:

  • Press Windows + X → select Device Manager.
  • Expand Network adapters → right-click your Wi-Fi adapter → Properties.
  • Go to the Advanced tab → look for Preferred Band or 802.11a/b/g/n/ac.
  • If you see 802.11ac or 802.11ax, your adapter supports 5 GHz.

2. Forget and Reconnect to the 5 GHz Network

  • Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Manage known networks.
  • Click your 5 GHz network → Forget.
  • Reconnect by selecting it from the Wi-Fi list and entering the password.

3. Update Wi-Fi Driver

  • In Device Manager, right-click your Wi-Fi adapter → Update driver.
  • Choose Search automatically for drivers.
  • Alternatively, visit the HP Drivers page for your model and download the latest Realtek or Intel Wireless LAN driver.

4. Set Preferred Band to 5 GHz

  • In Device Manager, right-click your Wi-Fi adapter → Properties.
  • Go to the Advanced tab → find Preferred Band or Band.
  • Set it to 5 GHz or Prefer 5 GHz.

5. Restart the Router and Laptop

  • Power off your router for 30 seconds and restart it.
  • Restart your laptop and try connecting again.

6. Check Router Settings

  • Log in to your router’s admin panel (usually at 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1).
  • Ensure the 5 GHz band is enabled and broadcasting.
  • Make sure the SSID broadcast is turned on for 5 GHz.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
