i keep losing wifi signal on this laptop its about 8ish years old.  nothing else in the house looses wifi signal.

hard wiring it works but wifi always looses connection. i doubt its worth taking it in to have someone work on and i dont have the money to do so anyway.  is there a way to self diagnose if it have a bad wifi card or anything?

Hi:

What is the product number of your dv6?

The product number can be found on the same label as the serial number.

Please do not post the serial number.

Hi:

You have a HP PAVILION DV6T-6C00 CTO QUAD EDITION ENTERTAINMENT NOTEBOOK PC.

Since the parts list show multiple wifi adapters it could have come with, please let me know the name and model number of the wireless network adapter.

If you don't know the model, go to the device manager, click to expand the Network Adapters device manager category, and there you will find the name and model number of the wireless network adapter.

if im looking correctly its a

intel centrino wireless n1030

drivers are up to date and it says its working properly.

i dont know but my laptop is literally the only thing that looses wifi in the whole house

HP Recommended

Yes, that's the wifi adapter.

See if updating the driver to this version helps any...scroll down the left side of the page, download and install the W7 32 bit driver.  Looks like the 6th one down.

loosing connection is still a problem. maybe wifi card is shot?

where do i go to use the driver?

maybe im missing a step cause im still seeing the centrino stuff

HP Recommended

I already wrote where you need to download the driver from.

You download the driver, then you double-click on the file to install the driver.

If that doesn't solve the problem, then yes perhaps the wifi card is no good, and if that is the case, buy a cheap USB wifi adapter.
