I cannot find any info on that model.  Lots of other g6-2355 variants (sf, se, sr, so, ej, ef), but not nr.

You should be able to replace the single band wifi card with this one...

Broadcom BCM943228HMB 802.11abgn 2×2 Wi-Fi Adapter, Broadcom Bluetooth4.0 Adapter   HP part # 730668-001

You should be able to find this model wifi card on eBay.

Search by the HP part number, not the model of the wifi card.

Below is the link to the service manual, where you can find the wifi card removal and replacement procedure.

Hi:

Most likely the SSID you are trying to connect to is on the 5.0 GHz wifi band and your notebook's wifi adapter only works on the 2.4 GHz wifi band.

You will need to enable the 2.4 GHz wifi band on your router so that you can connect your g6 notebook to the internet.

None of the g6 notebooks came with dual band wifi adapters.

the coxwifi is the network that appears automatically

it's their satellite hotspot

so u can log in anywhere in the world without having to be home near a modem/router

?????

You indicated that the coxwifi is not showing up on your g6 notebook, which means that the wifi card it has, cannot connect to it because it must only be on a 5.0 GHz wifi band, and your notebook's wifi card is only 2.4 GHz.

ok

do I have to buy a new laptop??

HP Recommended

You have two choices:

Buy a new laptop that has dual band wifi.

Buy a dual band USB wifi adapter.

Something like this...much cheaper than buying a new laptop.

Amazon.com: USB WiFi Bluetooth Adapter, 600Mbps Dual Band 2.4/5Ghz Wireless Network External Receive...

Does your suggestion to use an adapter 5.0 apply to my problem that no wifi connection or signal can be detected by the laptop when all other gadgets can pick the signal?

what about those dual band chips..

that I can put inside the laptop

are they compatible with my device

if so do u know which one will work for it?

Unless you have a g6-2200/2300 PC, the older models have BIOS whitelists which prevent the installation of any other wifi card from working.
