I cannot find any info on that model. Lots of other g6-2355 variants (sf, se, sr, so, ej, ef), but not nr.
You should be able to replace the single band wifi card with this one...
Broadcom BCM943228HMB 802.11abgn 2×2 Wi-Fi Adapter, Broadcom Bluetooth4.0 Adapter HP part # 730668-001
You should be able to find this model wifi card on eBay.
Search by the HP part number, not the model of the wifi card.
Below is the link to the service manual, where you can find the wifi card removal and replacement procedure.

Hi:
Most likely the SSID you are trying to connect to is on the 5.0 GHz wifi band and your notebook's wifi adapter only works on the 2.4 GHz wifi band.
You will need to enable the 2.4 GHz wifi band on your router so that you can connect your g6 notebook to the internet.
None of the g6 notebooks came with dual band wifi adapters.

You indicated that the coxwifi is not showing up on your g6 notebook, which means that the wifi card it has, cannot connect to it because it must only be on a 5.0 GHz wifi band, and your notebook's wifi card is only 2.4 GHz.

You have two choices:
Buy a new laptop that has dual band wifi.
Buy a dual band USB wifi adapter.
Something like this...much cheaper than buying a new laptop.
