Hi,
I want to upgrade the wifi card in my G7-2317cl so that I can get better internet speed and bluetooth. HP spec sheet says this is the current card:
1x1 802.11b/g/n WLAN |
I need a recommendation for 6 or 6E.
thanks,
DavidT

Hi, David:
You should be able to upgrade to this model, even though it is not officially supported in the service manual.
Broadcom BCM4352 802.11ac 2x2 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.0 combo HP part # 724935-001
You should be able to find the card in used but tested and working condition on eBay.
Search by the HP part number.
I have attached the service manual below, since the model series has been retired and you won't be able to find the manual on the HP support site anymore.

You're very welcome.
Yes, that is the fastest card available for your notebook.
W10 should automatically install the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth drivers, but here are the links to the latest Wi-Fi and Bluetooth drivers HP has for the Broadcom AC Wi-Fi adapter:
Wi-Fi:
Broadcom Wireless LAN Driver (Windows 10)
7.35.351.0
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp78001-78500/sp78044.exe
After you install the above driver, Windows update should install version 7.35.352.0
Bluetooth:
Broadcom Bluetooth Driver
12.0.1.921
