- laptop wont detect chromecast

have been successfullyusing chromecast ultra for a couple of years until we purchased a new tv and now my laptop will not detect the chromecast device evn thnough it still works fine on my husbands laptop and ourother mobiles. have run through all suggested fixes on the internet and google support but have no luck. any suggestions of another fix i could try?

You have to setup (tell) your new TV: you use Chromecast to connect your new TV to your home network first. As long as Chromecast (actually your new TV) and your machine are on SAME network they can see each other.
Can you connect your TV to your wifi network directly ? If yes you won't need Chromecast.

Thank you for your reply. Have connected straight to tv bypassing chromecast but find the picture is not as good and also audio can be a bit out of sync. Chromecast is better in all these respects. As we cannot find a solution to the chromecast not finding the device, this may have to do. Very strange that y laptop is the only device this has happened to.

Your TV must know it has Chromecast first. Please use the following instructions specially step 4:
