Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

I have an HP laptop (15-dy2073dx).  it has the Realtek RTL8821ce 802.11ac PCIe network card.  I have completely lost internet connection 3 times over a period of months.  I know the card stinks, but this problem also seems to be related to Windows updates.  My last solution was to "rollback" to prior update, but it appears Windows will force an update on 11/6/23.  In response to a similar question, Paul Tikennen (spelling?) had suggested only real solution is to replace the Realtek card with one from Intel.  Will this work for my model, and, if so, can someone help with how to do this?  (HP has run me in circles and provided no help).  Please help.

Thank.

Hi:

Unfortunately, since your notebook has the Realtek RTL8821CE Wi-Fi adapter, it only has one antenna wire connected to it and any Intel card would require two antenna wires.

Adding a second antenna wire would encompass ordering the dual antenna kit (if available) in chapter 3 of your notebook's service manual and taking the entire notebook apart including the display bezel to properly run the missing second antenna.

If you are willing to undertake a project of that scope, I recommend this model Wi-Fi card:

Intel AX210 Wi-Fi 6E 2x2 AX + Bluetooth 5.2 M.2 2230 non-vPro   HP part # M27269-005.

Below is the link to your notebook's user guides page where you can find the maintenance and service guide.

Have you updated the Wi-Fi driver to the latest version?  If not, you want to give that a try.

I have two HP 255 G7's with that lousy card and have not had any issues with them--other than I get nowhere near the 433 MBPS download speeds they offer.

Paul,

Thanks for your reply.  I have probably spent over 15 hours trying to resolve an issue caused by the Realtek card.  Hp knows the card is bad.  I tried several different  ways to contact customer support, including a call to which I was to receive a call back.  I never did.

I will never buy another HP product.

Again, thanks for your response.
