so i thought i fixed my hp dv6000 i now have a error message media test failure check cables i was given nothing but the non working laptop i tried  using a burnt cd to upgrade to win 10  so can it be i burnt to cd and not dvd could my hard drive be no good i cant get anywhere i have tried changing the boot order i have tried enabling some options and disabling others then the other way around i am using my chromebook to aid me  can someone anyone please  help me  figure this out i am really trying to fix this laptop and just getting dissappointed nothing is fixing it  i just want to know how to set the boot order right  where i can burn whatever software drivers and operation system i need to fix this  and  can i burn  what i need from a different computer then use them in my hp please and thank you

Hi:

 

I would have to say that the hard drive in there is no good, and needs to be replaced.

 

Here is the service manual where you can find the hard drive removal and replacement procedure.

There is a funky adapter that comes off the hard drive, so don't throw it out with the bad drive.

 

You need to replace it with a regular 2.5" SATA hard drive and plug the HDD adapter back onto the new drive.
