win 11 with mediaTek 7921 drops internet connectivity. You can ping the DNS yet windows thinks it is not connected.
There are no power management options for the device in device manager. Only way to recover is Netsch winsock reset followed by windows restart.
Similar problem occurs if you are connected by LAN to Router then disconnect it will not revert back to wifi link.

Alden4, Thank you for the suggestions, most of these I had already tried but to no avail. I have done more research and have solved the issue enabling the internet connection to switch between wifi and Lan without issues and also enabling the wifi to recover from errors and be stable.
My Driver was the latest on the HP Support site 3.0.1.1303 dated 31/05/2023. Research showed that a similar problem was being reported on Lenova laptops and they had a more uptodate driver from Mediatek which was 23.33.2.563 dated 10/11/2023. This made my wifi connection more stable but I still had the problem when initially starting the laptop or switching between Lan and Wifi.
I used the 'Netsh wlan show wlanreport' command and discovered that I was get spurious errors on starting on the network, so I complete removed my Mcafee VPN and this has fixed all my issues.
Thank you for your suggestions

Hi @Roseacre81,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing connectivity issues on your HP Pavilion laptop running Windows 11, particularly with the MediaTek 7921 wireless adapter. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.
Update Drivers: Ensure that your wireless adapter drivers are up to date. You can usually find these on the HP website or through Windows Update.
Reset Network Settings: Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status > Network Reset. This will reset all network adapters and settings to their defaults. Reconfigure your Wi-Fi connection afterward.
Check Power Management: Although you mentioned there are no power management options in Device Manager, sometimes power-saving features can be controlled through the HP software or firmware settings. Check for any settings related to power management for your wireless adapter in the HP Pavilion's BIOS or dedicated software.
Disable/Re-enable the Adapter: In Device Manager, right-click on the MediaTek 7921 wireless adapter and select "Disable", then wait a few seconds and select "Enable" to reset the adapter.
Forget Network: If the issue occurs when switching between LAN and Wi-Fi, try forgetting the Wi-Fi network and reconnecting to it manually. Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi, click on the network you're having issues with, and select "Forget".
Command Prompt Troubleshooting: Run Command Prompt as administrator and execute the following commands:
- netsh int ip reset (Resets TCP/IP stack)
- netsh winsock reset (Resets Winsock Catalog)
- ipconfig /release followed by ipconfig /renew (Renews IP configuration)
Check for Interference: Interference from other electronic devices or neighboring networks can disrupt Wi-Fi signals. Move closer to the router or try changing the Wi-Fi channel in your router settings.
Update Windows: Ensure that your Windows installation is up to date. Sometimes, updates contain fixes for connectivity issues.
By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and hopefully resolve the connectivity issues you're experiencing with your HP Pavilion laptop running Windows 11.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
