Hi @rbrooke1, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your MediaTek Wi-Fi 6E MT7902 wireless LAN card is missing on your newly purchased HP computer, try the following steps:
Check in Device Manager
- Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand Network adapters and check if MediaTek Wi-Fi 6E MT7902 is listed.
- If listed but has a yellow exclamation mark, right-click it and select Update driver.
- If not listed, proceed to the next steps.
Check Hidden Devices
- In Device Manager, click View > Show hidden devices.
- Look under Network adapters or Unknown devices.
- If found, try Uninstall device > Restart PC.
Install or Reinstall Wi-Fi Driver
- Download the latest MediaTek Wi-Fi 6E MT7902 driver from HP's official website using another PC or Ethernet.
- Install the driver and restart your computer.
Check BIOS/UEFI Settings
- Restart and enter BIOS/UEFI (press F10 during boot).
- Look for Wireless LAN settings and ensure it is Enabled.
- Save and exit.
Run Windows Troubleshooter
- Go to Settings > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
- Select Network Adapter > Run.
Check Physical Connection
- If the Wi-Fi module is detachable (M.2 slot), ensure it's properly seated inside the laptop.
Windows Updates
- Go to Settings > Windows Update and install all updates.
- Restart your PC.
Reset Network Settings
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run:netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns
- Restart your PC.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
