I haven't use my laptop in about 8 months. I just logged in and it says 'you are

not connected to any networks'. The network icon is also missing from the

taskbar. There's a blank space where it used to be. I cant perform any updates

either. How to fix?

Hi @sheria,

Thanks for taking an interest in the HP Support Forums! This is a great location to get resolutions and interact with experts from the community. I understand that you have Wi-Fi connectivity issues and the network icon does not appear in the taskbar anymore. I will be more than happy to assist you with this.

At the outset, you’ve done a great job trying to locate the network icon and trying to connect. Kudos to you for that. It will be a genuine pleasure to work with you.

Please do a hard reset first. Steps to do it:

  • Power down the computer and unplug the charger. Then remove the battery only if it is a removable one.
  • Hold down the power button of the unit for 15 seconds to discharge static electrical charges inside the machine.
  • Replace the battery and reconnect the charger. Try to power on the computer.

Please check if the F12 key is the wifi key on your keyboard and check if it is lit. It toggles on and off. So it should always be on.

After that visit this link for further troubleshooting: http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-g6-Notebook-PC-series/5082228/model/5118988/document...

I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the  computer  works great. Hope this helps. Please let me know how this works. To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to appreciate my efforts. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution”.

Take care and have a splendid week ahead.
