Hi @pineo,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like your HP Laptop 15 is experiencing issues with its network connection, specifically related to the virtual network adapter. Here are several steps you can follow to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.
Restart Your Computer
- Sometimes, a simple restart can fix network adapter issues. Save your work and restart your laptop.
Check Network Adapter Settings
- Device Manager:
- Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand the Network adapters section.
- Look for your network adapter (it might say something like "Realtek", "Intel", or "Broadcom").
- Right-click the adapter and select Enable if it is disabled.
- If it's enabled, try disabling and then enabling it again.
Update Network Adapter Drivers
- Manually Update:
- In Device Manager, right-click on your network adapter and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
- Download from Manufacturer:
- If the automatic search doesn’t work, visit the HP support website on another device.
- Enter your laptop model and download the latest network adapter drivers.
- Transfer the driver file to your laptop using a USB drive and install it.
Reset Network Settings
- Windows Settings:
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet.
- Scroll down and select Network reset.
- Click Reset now and confirm. Your computer will restart and network settings will be reset.
Check Virtual Network Adapters
- Disable Unnecessary Virtual Adapters:
- In Device Manager, look for virtual network adapters (e.g., for VPNs or virtualization software).
- Right-click and disable any that you are not using.
- Reinstall Virtual Adapters:
- If you use virtual adapters (like for a VPN), consider uninstalling and then reinstalling the related software.
Check Physical Network Connections
- If you’re using an Ethernet cable, ensure it is properly connected.
- Try using a different Ethernet cable or port on your router.
Run Network Troubleshooter
- Windows Troubleshooter:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
- Select Internet Connections and run the troubleshooter.
Check for Windows Updates
- Sometimes, Windows updates can resolve hardware and driver issues:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Check for updates and install any available updates.
BIOS/UEFI Settings
- Ensure network adapters are enabled in the BIOS/UEFI settings:
- Restart your computer and enter the BIOS/UEFI setup (usually by pressing Esc, F2, F10, or Del during startup).
- Check for network adapter settings and ensure they are enabled.
Reinstall Windows (Last Resort)
- If all else fails, you might consider reinstalling Windows. Ensure you have backed up all important data before proceeding.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
