Dear Paul,
Yesterday I read your reply to another user having similar issues and I used the link you provided her to mend
my drive. Everything worked perfectly !!!!!
I am based in Northern Italy, close to Verona, where I was born and raised, before studying and working in Padua,
London, New York City, Rome, and serving in the Italian Alpine Troops as parte of SETAF ( Southern Europe Terrestrial
Allied Forces ). I worked for 43 years as attorney-at-law, committed to international business law, presently retired,
although I still counsel the top Italy's yacht designer company with respect to Yacht Design Agreements and related matters.
Thank you again for your assistance. I wish you a healthy 2024 in your retirement from the USCG which I cooperated with extensively in their international legal affairs.

You're very welcome.
Thank you for your service as well!
I have Italian roots too.
My mother's parents and grandparents were from Sicily.
They taught me some Italian when I was a youngster.
I still say Buon Natale and Buona Pasqua at my house to this day.
Cheers,
Paul

Dear Paul,
when I was six years old I spent one year in Catania, Sicily, because my father was then appointed Sales Supervisor for Sicily by Squibb. In 1984, while I was the first Foreign Associate hired by Willkie, Farr & Gallagher, LLP, I was asked to perform my services as Member of the Milan , Italy, Bar, to take the sworn will from a lady of Italian descent who lived in Queens, NYC.
I went there with her son, an employee at WFG, and I realized that the old lady spoke tight Sicilian dialect only. Having lived primarily in Northern Italy, I was not that familiar with Sicilian dialect as tight as that. I nevertheless managed to take the lady's will interacting with her in Italian slowly and I recall her smile in gratitude. Months later I went to Queens Courthouse to confirm that will on probation. I was quite happy having put my skills to the benefit of that Siciian lady and her son.

I remember that both my grandfather and great grandfather spoke with a Sicilian dialect.
I think that it is a little bit similar to Corsican.
My grandfather moved back to Sicily when I was a teenager. He was from Ragusa but retired in Catania.
My mother said that he never really liked living in the USA and missed living in Sicily.

Dear Paul, Italians who migrated overseas came from all over the country, mostly from Piedmont, Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Trentino, Campania, Calabria, Sicily. A few years ago a new trend occurred, namely US, Argentinians, Brazilians, Canadians, of Italian heritage and passport, who decided to settle in Italy, their ancestors' land. I regret to say that Italy is no longer a wonderland, population is decreasing greatly in numbers as well as living conditions, our government is labelled as neofascist, and I think that our only true safety anchor is a strong European Union. There is an increasing rumour here that Mr. Mario Draghi, former Italy Premier and Head of the European Central Bank, may be appointed Head of either the EU Commission or Council. As you may know, Mr. Matteo Salvini, currently Secretary of Extreme Right Lega, Deputy Premier and Minister of Infrastructures, has commited Italy's Cabinet to build Ponte dello Stretto, a three km long bridge which would connect Reggio Calabria to Messina. Most Sicilians and Calabresi oppose that project, since its 20 Billion Euro price tag could be more effectively spent to enhance railroads, roads, and public housing in Sicily and Calabria, not to mention that the bridge would be built in a highly dangerous seismic area.
