HI everyone, after HP support assistant had me update the LAN driver(s), my hp 15-g029 wm notebook using Windows 8.1 gives me an error message that Device cannot start(code 10) in Device Manager. It worked with no problem before. Thanks for any help in advance.

Hi:

Try this...right click on the RTL8188EE adapter in the device manager.

Select Uninstall.  Also check the Uninstall driver box and reboot the PC.

See if the driver automatically installs or reinstall the driver I posted if it doesn't.

Hi:

See if installing this driver restores functionality to your wireless card.

just to let you Paul, it didn't work, it still doesn't recognize the wireless adapter and Device Manager still gives me an "exclaimation point". Any other suggestions would be great. Thanks again.

Paul, should i leave the ethernet cable plugged in while i uninstall, restart and(if the system doesnt recognize the wifi adapter) install the driver again?

Hi:

Since it is the wireless card that is affected, it is fine to leave the ethernet cable connected.

Paul, your last instructions worked. At first i uninstalled & restarted and re-installed and it didnt work so this morning i did the uninstall and shut down for a few minutes and it worked!. I didnt even have to re-install the driver. Thank you so  much!!. I am truly grateful and Thank you for taking the time to respond.

I had similar problem like 5mininutes before pasting this comment, the best thing I can deem fit for you to do is to perform a system restore to a particular date when everything was still working properly. You won't lose any file or document it will only restore your windows/system settings to the way it was at the particular date you selected. I hope it helps 'cause it did for me.
