Desktop says it is connected (Network says it is connected) to the internet/ethernet and other devices will connect via wi-fi. However, the desktop can not reach any website (even with wi-fi turned on).
Initially the Google home page will come up on Chrome but can not go to any other addresses. Error received on HP troubleshooting is the connectivity problem "999".
This stopped connecting after windows 10 was upgraded by family member.
Solutions??

Hi
Dunno.
So it is a WiFi problem with a Windows 10 machine?
Assume it is installed, and a network SSID (mine is WhiffyOne with a stinker of a password) and password are correctly set.
The next stage is getting to the Router, GATEWAY IP address (mine is a common one 192.168.0.1) and if so should show up in connected devices in the Router.
Also should be able to ping and be pinged by others on the network.
Then when it has crossed the divide into the internet it needs to know where to go via DNS numbers.
IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.11(Preferred)
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : 29 October 2017 08:15:19
Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : 30 October 2017 08:15:19
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1
DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 8.8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4
NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Enabled
So your system must be missing one of those parts, I ran ipconfig -all to gt my values.
You get a coupla screenfuls to scroll thru to ID the particlar part, and if you have any similar device to compare against so much the better.
Once you that screen open there are some more commands that will give info, listed in the box below...
The first line lists the SSID's (networks) listed, and you note the name of yours and substitute it for %SSID% to see the password key stored.
netsh wlan show profiles netsh wlan show profile name=%SSID% key=clear
If in doubt please ask.

I am unsure of your last suggestion on profile name and password. Is this for the router or modem? I know the modem password. Am I suppose to enter them under the wlan profile in this command? I have the desktop hard wired to the Ethernet.
