I've upgraded my HP dv6 laptop from windows 7 to windows 10 and f12 key just turn on and off airplane mode but WiFi don't work and f12 key was always orange

After upgrading and installing all the proper drivers and testing all the online forums solutions just this worked:

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebooks-Archive-Read-Only/Wireless-button-f12-not-working-after-wind...

I did these two steps:

1. ftp://15.216.111.13/pub/softpaq/sp58501-59000/sp58720.exe

2. Try to load deafult BIOS settings. Go in BIOS - choose the last tab - "Load deafult settings" or something like this

I did them consequently and I'm not sure which one exactly solved problem but I suggest you to do them.

After that f12 turned blue and always stays blue and WiFi is working!!!

Hi @Vahid1989,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It's great to hear that you were able to resolve the issue with your HP dv6 laptop's WiFi functionality after upgrading to Windows 10. It seems like one or both of the steps you mentioned played a role in fixing the problem.

  • Downloading and installing the driver: The link you provided seems to point to a specific driver (sp58720.exe) that likely includes the necessary drivers for your laptop's wireless functionality. Installing this driver would ensure that the appropriate software support is in place for your WiFi to function correctly on Windows 10.
  • Loading default BIOS settings: Resetting the BIOS settings to default can sometimes resolve hardware-related issues by clearing any conflicting configurations or settings that may have arisen during the upgrade process. This step might have helped in ensuring that the BIOS configuration was not causing any interference with the WiFi functionality.

It's difficult to determine exactly which step resolved the problem without further testing, but it's good to know that your WiFi is now working properly and that the F12 key is indicating its status correctly. If you encounter any further issues, don't hesitate to reach out for assistance.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
