My wifi adaptor is not working properly

Wi-Fi adapter issues on HP notebooks can be caused by driver problems, power settings, or hardware faults. Here’s a structured way to fix it:

1. Check Wireless Switch & Airplane Mode

  • Ensure Wi-Fi is enabled (Fn + Wireless key or physical switch).
  • Turn off Airplane Mode in Windows settings.

 

2. Update or Reinstall Wi-Fi Driver

  • Open Device Manager → Network adapters.
  • Right-click your Wi-Fi adapter → Update driver.
  • If that doesn’t help: 
    • Select Uninstall device, restart your PC, and let Windows reinstall it.
  • For best results, download the latest driver from HP Support for your notebook model.

 

3. Reset Network Settings

  • Go to Settings → Network & Internet → Advanced network settings → Network reset.
  • Restart your PC after the reset.

 

4. Check Power Management

  • In Device Manager → Wi-Fi adapter → Properties → Power Management.
  • Uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

 

5. Run HP Diagnostics

  • Restart your PC and press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  • Run the Wireless Network Test.

 

6. Update BIOS & Windows

  • Use HP Support Assistant to install BIOS updates.
  • Ensure Windows is fully updated.
