@Rosalind4, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Did you make any software or hardware changes on the PC?

Were there any windows updates installed recently?

Make sure the wireless key or button is enabled

Refer to steps 1 from this document for more info.

Let us run a test on the hardware components of the PC

1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.

2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.

3. Perform Component Test > Network. Share the result on your next post.

You may also Use Windows Network and Internet Troubleshooter

In Windows, right-click the network connection icon  in the system tray, and then select Troubleshoot problems.

If prompted, select the type of network problem, and then follow the on-screen instructions to resolve the issue.

Let me know how this goes.

Thank you for your response and sorry for my slow reply but I have been ill.

I hadn't made any changes prior to losing wifi connectivity, but following the loss of wifi I did try a factory reset but this did not fetch back the wifi adapter.

There is no wifi symbol  or availability when I check network connections, I have also run windows trouble shooter several times. I have looked on device manager and the only network adaptor is Realtek PCle FE Family Controller.

I have run the dignostic test you suggest and the results say:

UEFI Networking does not appear to be supported or enabled on the system. Please check the BIOS settings to make sure UEFI network option ROMs are enabled and that UEFI network boot is enabled.

I would appreciate any further advice you can give.

Thank you

@Rosalind4

I hope you are all well, now
That out of the way, here's what I suggest you do:

Install the latest version of the HP Hardware diagnostics (UEFI) on your device using this link: Click here for details

Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.

Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.

On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests.

Click Extensive Test.

Click Run once, or Loop until error.

While the test is running, the time remaining and test result for each component display on the screen.

If a component fails a test, write down the failure ID (24-digit code) for when you respond back to us.

Let me know how it goes.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.
