HP Pavilion g7-2004sd notebook
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi there,

When the HP recovery system was failing me when I was resetting, it wouldnt start anymore (defaultuser0 was admin without password). This happened more than once so I had 3 administrative accounts without password and was thereby unable to access my computer anymore.

Now I formatted the laptop, reinstalled windows, but it's impossible to get my wifi working again?

I downloaded all the drivers available for my laptop, but its not responding or finding any wifi adapter.

Its for the

HP Pavilion g7-2004sd notebook-pc

serienumber: 5CD22478K1

productnr: B1U98EA#ABH

Is there anyone who can help me get the wifi up and running?

(my feeling is something about the adapter that makes it not recognizable)

Thanks in advance.

Robert

I'm not giving up.

I explored a bunch of driver folders and none of the ones I gave you previously have contained support for the hardware ID you posted--including the one on your notebook's support page.

However...I found this one that does contain driver support for that ID.  See if this one finally works...

This package contains the driver installation package for the Qualcomm Atheros QCA9000 Series wireless LAN Controller in the supported notebook models running a supported operating system.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp70501-71000/sp70859.exe

In the ndis6xWin7 folder, netathrx (64 bit) setup information file, is this partial copy and paste of the driver info...

Hi:

If the wifi adapter needs a driver, there will be a device listed in the device manager under an Other Devices category, labeled as a Network Controller.

That is the name Windows gives the wireless adapter when the driver isn't installed.

Please post the hardware ID for the Network Controller device, and then I will post the link to the wifi driver you need.

Use this guide for how to find the hardware ID...

Thanks for the response, the hardware ID is: PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0036&SUBSYS_064211AD&REV_01

I added a printscreen just to make sure I didnt screw up 🙂

Running on w7 ultimate.

Thanks in advance.

You're very welcome.

You need these wifi and bluetooth drivers...

This package provides the driver to support the Atheros Wireless LAN adapter in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp57001-57500/sp57138.exe

This package contains the driver installation package for the Atheros Bluetooth 4.0 + HS in the supported notebook models running a supported operating system.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp56501-57000/sp56573.exe

The other devices your missing, needs these drivers...

SMBus:  Install and restart the PC

This package contains the Intel Chipset Installation Utility and Driver for supported notebook models running a supported operating system. This utility enables the operating system to show the correct name for the installed Intel hardware in the Microsoft Windows Device Manager.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp59001-59500/sp59259.exe

PCI dev:

This package contains the driver that enables the Realtek Card Reader in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. The card reader enables users to read from or write to supported removable storage cards, which are typically used in digital cameras, digital music players, and cellular phones.

It fixed most of the issues, except the one for the wifi adapter.

Unable to install the driver. Also tried manually, but it didnt work.

So the only one left is the networkcontroller.

For some reason it just cant seem to install or recognize the correct driver and/or hardware for the wifi.

Thanks for the help

Hi:

Unfortunately, I don't know what to say because that is definitely the driver you need for that model wifi adapter.

So, you tried browsing to the driver folder that was created when you ran the driver, and it didn't work either?

That's not good.

The only other suggestion I can offer would be to try a newer version of the driver...

This package contains the driver installation package for the Qualcomm Atheros AR9000 Series wireless LAN Controller in the supported notebook models running a supported operating system.

Yes I tried that. First let him try to find it himself, then with selecting the folder, after that excluding them all one by one starting from the win7 x64 down to xp (this one he did recognize for not being the installed OS).

I even uninstalled all drivers again and started from scratch with the ones you provided.

Ill try the 61411 now, ill let you know how that works out.

Thanks again, starting to lose all hope 😞

Same result 😕 I really have no idea what to do anymore

Is there something in the BIOS I can manipulate or any other way to manipulate it?
